While in the Brig, your Purser will still allow you to buy and sell items in the Market, and bid on auction items.
He will allow you to do banking, such as putting gold and doubloons back into your hidden treasure chest, or make withdrawals from your chest while you are in the brig.
He can put up bail money to get you out of the brig if your sentence is less than 5 minutes.
